Rodney & Eva Ragwan

Rodney Ragwan comes from a long line of committed Christians.  His great-grandparents left India for South Africa and the Ragwan family remained in their adopted country.  Rodney accepted Christ while in the 8th grade and first sensed a call to the ministry in the 10th grade.

Following graduation from the Baptist Theological College of Southern Africa, Rev. Ragwan developed a servant leadership style while pastoring several churches and witnessed the demise of apartheid and the birth of a new country.  He also served on committees of the Baptist World Alliance and the All Africa Baptist Fellowship.

In 2004, Rodney Ragwan came to the United States, where he completed a Doctor of Ministry degree. He also directed a Masters blended online program at Palmer Theological Seminary. He is an adjunct professor in Palmer Seminary’s Doctor of Ministry program. In 2011 he completed a PhD in Church History and Polity at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Rodney is the author of three books. He also serves as director of Mission Mobilization at International Ministries. Rodney serves on the board of directors of the Philadelphia Baptist Association. He is married to Dr. Eva Ragwan, a therapist.  They have three children and four grandchildren.  Rodney enjoys soccer, cricket, gardening, playing the guitar and listening to jazz music.

Eva also comes from a strong Christian background and made a commitment to Christ when she was in primary school. She trained as a teacher at the Springfield College of Education and taught in the junior primary phase for almost 19 years. She also served as acting head of department at her school in Durban, South Africa.

In 2018 Eva completed a PhD in Marriage and Family Counseling. She is an adjunct professor at Eastern University and is the executive administrative assist to the dean at Palmer Theological Seminary and director of Seminary Operations. Eva also is a therapist with Kairos Counseling Services in Wayne, PA.


Houghton & Nancy Kane (Global liaison)

Houghton Kane can be summed up in several words: God, Family, Spanish, Cuba, Music, Drama and Professor.  Born in Brooklyn and son of a Baptist minister, Houghton has been a member of North Wales Baptist Church since 1959.  He presently is a member of the Mission, Praise and the Finance Teams and is a Worship Leader.  Houghton enjoys deep relationships with his wife Nancy, their three children and eight grandchildren.  He holds MA and JD degrees, served as a military policeman in the late 1960´s, enjoyed a career as dean and professor at Ursinus College, is a member of the board of a regional Latino advocacy organization, and spends several weeks each year with friends in Cuba, where he presents music and drama. Houghton Kane serves in two areas of the church’s ministry. He focuses on congregational life and mission. Houghton also acts as the liaison person between North Wales Baptist Church and the church in Cuba.

Nancy Kane serves, provides encouragement to the congregants, especially the women. She also brings her counseling background to this ministry. Nancy graduated from Houghton College with a degree in English, secondary education and psychology. After teaching for a few years, Nancy earned her masters degree in counseling from West Chester University. For many years, she had a rewarding career as counselor and later director of Lakeside Girls Academy, which educates, provides counseling and social services for pregnant and parenting teens as well as young women who benefit from extra educational and emotional support. She is now retired, but continues to serve on Lakeside’s Board of Directors. Nancy and Houghton met in college and love spending time and adventures with their 3 adult children and 8 grandchildren. Nancy enjoys gardening, reading, traveling, and spending time in nature. Nancy Joined Wales Baptist in 1970 and currently sings in the choir, serves on our Discipleship and Education team, teaches children’s church and has a wonderful home Bible study with women.

Gavin & Renee Peters

Gavin Peters is the Youth Director at NWBC. He is married to Renee and they both have a daughter, Cassidy. Gavin brings a variety of experiences into his leadership. He has worked with youth groups in South Africa and has also participated in mission work in rural African towns, ministering to kids and youth. He is grounded in Biblical theology as he participated in yearly Bible examinations conducted by the Baptist Association of South Africa. His involvement in sport in his country has also given him leadership and team skills that enhance the dynamic of working with the youth here at NWBC. Youth are drawn to his team spirit, fun personality and humor.
